DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

I specialse in deep tissue and sports massage. My clients come to me with common problems like: stress, sports or occupational injuries, pain in the back, neck and shoulders to name but a few.  I then design a treatment programme and work with them until the issues are resolved.  I am trained in Soft tissue release (STR), Post isometric isolation (PIR), Reciprocal inhibition (RI) including effleurage and petrissage.

Sports massage has a reputation for being painful and intense.  That is not my philosophy and I don't work like that.  I meet the body where it wants to be met, being effective without causing any pain.

WHY

Modern life puts many stresses and demands upon our bodies. Theraputic massage offers the following benefits:

  • Eliminates stress and tension from our muscles.

  • Increased oxygen and nutrition to the tissues through better circulation.

  • Reduces stress and anxiety.

  • Improves normal muscle and soft tissue flexibility and thus improves joint mobility.

  • Assists recovery from and helps prevent injury.

  • Assists with scar tissue breakdown and encourages lyphatic drainage of swelling and waste products.

  • Soft tissue tension which affects the normal position of the joints and associated nerve tissue.  It is often involved in movement inbalances, postural dysfunctions and is almost always a contributing factor in musculoskeletal pain.

HOW

Our muscles are surrounded and supported by connective tissue called myofascia.  After injury or lack of use, this tissue becomes hardened and sticks together causing a reduction in function and stiffness in joints.  Therapeutic and sports massage will soften this tissue restoring mobility and functionality to the muscles and joints.  Lack of movement also means that our neuromuscular function and our muscular strength deteriorates.  Massage helps to increase the blood flow and oxygen to the muscles and at the same time enhances toxin removal, thereby improving muscular conditioning.

Even if you're not a sports person, therapeutic massage is a great way to keep your muscles in top condition. It keeps your muscles supple and free from tensions, knots and adhesions.  It also results in muscles groups re-balancing.

Massaging the soft tissues of the body by hands on treatment, together with a bespoke stretching programme will help with the rehabilitation of your muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Anyone who suffers from sports injuries, work,  lifestyle or postural problems will certainly benefit from therapeutic sports massage.
